JB Trip (April 2023) - Day 3 of 3

Day 3 started with me waking up the earliest as usual. The effects of growing old is undeniable. I sat on the sofa for 2 whole hours just gaming and chilling, and bombing the toilet because it's my body's way of dealing with alcohol.

Everyone else woke up by 10am and we all proceeded to rent another car for today. This time, it was a Hyundai Tucson, which is damn sian because the 6th guy have to settle in the car boot with no seat. We Grabbed to this random petrol station in the middle of nowhere to collect the car. Happy Wallace finally got to pull out an engine oil dipstick to do BOS!!!

We then hurriedly drove to this dim sum place called Gui Yuan Dim Sum. The place closes at 12pm and we managed to reach it at 11am. Sadly, most of their stuff is sold out so we wiped out everything else that they had. It was a great meal. Super duper filling for each of us. Their baos and siew mais are the bombz!!! Only have this low quality insta-story screenshot because we were all busy eating!!

After our brunch, we drove to Mid Valley Southkey to lepak and kill time before the massage. It was a big ass mall. We all bought Xin Fu Tang milk tea and just lepak inside their store for a bit due to food coma. Then it was just random strolling around the mall aimlessly. Actually don't underestimate aimless walking. It is actually very fulfilling!!!

At 2pm, we collectively decided to just go to the massage place early since there might be a chance we can start earlier than our booked timing of 3pm. We reached the place and to my surprise, Jeffrey booked us appointments at King Spa 1. Hehe... What a good bro Jeffrey is!!!

Review of this massage place: Happy. Fellow brothers, go at your own risk. Featuring Wallace and Joshua acting all suspicious in the massage room:

After the massage, we all drove back to the AirBnb for me to pack up my stuff. It was time for me to go home because there's still work for me the following day!!! Sadded. They dropped me off at the customs, saving me a trip there myself. I bidded JB goodbye at 5pm as I crossed the customs alone, heading back to reality. This is the end of the trip from my vantage point! A short but great break from life!!!

JB Trip (April 2023) - Day 2 of 3

Day 2 started with me being the first to wake up (like how a good old SAF regular should). I sat down at the sofa from 8am until the 2nd person wakes up, which happened to be Joshua because he's looking for a haircut. What does his haircut gotta do with me, you say? Well, this is JB, everywhere we go must be in buddy level.

Me and Joshua walked out to the streets beside our apartment. Sadly his barber shop is closed so we almost made a wasted trip. I passed by this coffeeshop and saw the locals eating the noodles. So I decided to try some myself. Solid bird bird bro. Local food never fails to disappoint. With kopi peng packet, everything cost just under 10 ringgit. Insane!!!

With happy stomachs, we both walked back to the apartment. Everyone else was just starting to wash up. It was at this moment we decided to rent car from SOCAR instead of taking Grab because our calculations show that renting car is way cheaper. We settled on this Perodua MYVI car, which is a 6-seater, perfect for us. I think the total damage for the car is 200+ ringgit for the entire day???

We needed to collect the car at Ikea so we took one last Grab ride to Ikea. No more walking on that shitty ass road man. We wasted a lot of time trying to find the car because the carpark is so damn big. Like why?? Why so many lots!!! But yes, when we found the car, we were super excited! Our first stop is a brunch place discovered by Joshua's early morning browsing, called Roast & Coffee, at Palladium.

I think the place is a breakfast place but who cares? We are all having breakfast at 12pm. The laksa is their signature dish, and boy, does it taste heavenly. But what made us achieve nirvana is the salted caramel toast. Legit bro, words can't describe how good that thing is. I don't want to say this is the best food this trip, but it is certainly up there on the leaderboards.

With stomachs filled and hearts satisfied, we then drove to visit thrift shops. We stopped by this furnace of a place filled with used clothes. I instantly kena allergic reaction after walking one round inside the oven. Hot as hell bodoh. Ended up just chilling in the car with the aircon on sua. My sensitive skin means I will never ever purchase used clothes. After Joshua and Samuel bought their goods, we left for banana cake shop.

Crazy driving from Sean as usual. My motion sickness almost became a real person this whole trip. We arrived at this atas stretch of road and we took some geisiao act cool pictures. We split up as we explored that stretch of shops. Me and Wallace just wanna cool down so we both bought ice cream from this random aircon mama shop and lepak inside the shop.

Then it was banana cake time. So apparently this Hiap Joo bakery is like famous or something. So many people queuing up for this cake. To me okay only la. My mum makes better banana cake. But of course not everyone have my mother so they can only settle for Hiap Joo. We all consumed the cake in the comforts of our aircon car.

It was my turn to drive as we head to Permas Go-Kart Circuit. It was quite a smooth drive there. The road leading into the karting place resembles outfield conditions. What an exciting drive as we saw dogs and cows and monkeys. The desire to go out to touch the cows is real man. We soon arrived at the location at 4pm. Semi-dark clouds but no rain.

We explored the rocks and dirt for a little because it's nice to be away from the bustling city for a change. We even chased chickens and their chicks. Took a few nice photos on a pile of random rocks. Fun times!!! After Joshua deposited his liquids onto the innocent grass, we headed into the reception area.

We only got to ride for 10 minutes due to the weather, but it was the most fun 10 minutes of our trip. The 60km/hr speed is crazy and it feels real good. But of course, after riding my motorbike for years and feeling that wind in my face, the only appeal of go-karting is purely just to race with friends. Sean control is as good as mine because we are both exceptional drivers in our daily lives. Others were just trying to survive!

It then started raining right after we hung up our helmets. Lucky us!! On the drive back to civilisation, we decided to try our luck in touching the cows. Obviously that failed because the cows are super smart. They know we are trollers and are just there to disturb their grass buffet. They literally stopped chewing and gave us the death stare when we stopped beside them.

Too bad. That's a good sign it's time to head back to the city. We went back to our Airbnb apartment to change and recharge. At 6:30pm, we drove to Senibong Bay Seafood for our dinner. The place itself is very chill and we can see Singapore from the shoreline. But ah, the speed of the food being served killed our mood. Kid you not, the food is really really good, but we probably need to be fiercer in the future.

Eat until super full again. Shiok sia. I'm done with driving for the day. Sean took back the wheel as we headed to Aeon again to restock our supply for the night. No alcohol purchases this time, only water and snacks. It was a quick supply run. Then we all went back to the apartment to start our crazy night. Some dude just came to our condo's carpark to collect the car back.

Night was crazy as hell. I drank all of my alcohol and we even played with fireworks on the balcony. Talk cock sing song while drunk and high on vape is the best thing to do in JB. Really chill and epic life!!! Jeffrey toh way too early and it was a sign for photo time!!!

JB Trip (April 2023) - Day 1 of 3

Year 1 Trimester 2 ended, which means it's time for a holiday again!!! This time, I'm going overseas with my university friends. It is a 4D3N trip to Johor Bahru, except that I have to return one day earlier because I have work on the last day. Still, it is nothing short of crazy. Here's how crazy the trip was:

Day 1 started with me waking up at 7:30am, originally intending to walk to KSL from Woodlands Checkpoint. But, upon closer inspection of our AirBnb location, I decided to take bus instead. We booked the apartment at Mount Austin, a whopping triple the distance to KSL. No thanks man. I took public transport to Woodlands Checkpoint.

Customs was rather empty on a Monday morning, so I cleared both sides within half an hour. I reached JB Sentral at 9am. Fuiyoh!!! Sadly, City Square Mall doesn't open until 10am so I had to sit at the Train Station and chill until 10am. Upon opening, I walked into the mall to hunt for food. Settled on JCO Donuts and had 6 of them, followed by Gong Cha's caramel milk tea. Shiok eh!!!

Wallace, Sean, Samuel, Jeffrey and Joshua, 5 of them decided to come in via Woodlands instead of Tuas after seeing that I cleared customs in a flash. They all met up with me at 11am. Whole lot of us then walked to an obscure roadside stall to buy "toddy", also known as coconut wine. I tried one sip and was like "nope, never ever".

After they got 1.5 litres of that drink, we all hopped onto a Grab car and headed towards KSL. Our first stop is the famous Bak Kut Teh stall. We ordered one big pot of bak kut teh and various smaller dishes. After my 6 donuts, I was about half-full, so I didn't finish my rice. Still gotta admit that this stall opposite KSL is one of the best Bak Kut Teh in JB!!!

After all of us had our stomachs filled, Wallace and me went to buy our Lanavape before we all Grabbed to Ikea Tebrau. Walked around and explored the mall a little before finally spending a huge chunk of time in Decathlon, playing table tennis. LMAO. There was this table tennis fully set up and we all just played our hearts out there. As 3pm neared, we all left and again Grabbed our way to the AirBnb place.

After some confused fumbling and a lot of cursing and swearing, we made it into the apartment. It was nice and spacious, damn shiok. We all chose our rooms and I'm bunking with Sean. After chilling and resting for a bit, we all planned the rest of our night. We planned to visit a night market and settle our stomach again. And we all agreed to walk back to Aeon Tebrau, which was right beside Ikea.

It was the worst decision of our day. JB really isn't for walkers. We all had a hard time crossing the roads without traffic lights and the walkways are not even proper walkways. We got splashed left right center by all the cars passing us. We almost decided to cut through a hospital to use as a shortcut. It was a miracle all of us even made it to Aeon in one piece.

We walked around at Aeon and I bought myself the Shihlin fried chicken. Holy moly was the chicken big and juicy, and it cost way lesser than Singapore's. Unbelievable. We almost wanted to watch a movie at the cinema but as usual, movie preference is something a large group will never agree with. Ultimately, with chicken in one hand and pumped up moods, we headed for the arcade. We decided to play some of the arcade games to kill time because it was still too early for the night market.

We raced each other on the driving game until we don't even wanna drive. I think after all of us drove the real car in real life, these games do not appeal to us anymore. The first two drives are really fun until it became super boring. It actually became a chore to finish up the credits. Damn. But yay, we made it to night market time!

We walked across the bridge to outside the Ikea building and saw a small night market there. We proceeded to settle dinner there. Me and Joshua walked around to look at the food while the 4 others went to buy fireworks. Yeah, fireworks. LMAO. Two foods caught our attention, mango smoothie and satay. I gotta say, the mango smoothie tastes exactly like Bangkok quality, no kidding. It is that good.

Then it was the satay stall. Wah, we from far far already can smell the aroma. Joshua followed the aroma with his nose and focused onto this satay stall. Their mutton satay is so damn good I bought 20 sticks back. It is the best satay I have ever eaten in my life. Sadly this night market is temporarily set up for Ramadan only.

We all then headed back to Aeon Tebrau to buy our alcohol before the 9pm limit. Jeffrey, Joshua and me got Soju bottles while Sean got some beer. Wallace the alcoholic got both Soju and beer. Samuel only bought one teeny can of Budweiser. Good boy Samuel, be like Samuel. Then we all headed back to our AirBnb with all our foods and drinks.

It was talk cock sing song for the rest of the night. We all drank some of those drinks (excluding that bottle of toddy, eeyeer!!) and had a great time. It is only our first night so we didn't go down hard on the drinking. It was a peaceful knockout for me after seeing Joshua knock himself out on his bed at midnight. Day 1, out!
