***This post is a recount of the trip after I returned to Singapore from the trip.***
Osaka really felt draggy especially over the last 2 nights of aimless walking. Today I finally leave Osaka for Kyoto. And this is the first time I change cities without taking the Shinkansen. The train ride was 1 hour long and I stood all the way because for some reason, it was crowded.
Kyoto is, amazing. The moment I stepped out of the train station, I knew this city is my favourite so far. The sights and sounds are way different from what I encountered over the last 10 days.
Today was the day I discovered this amazing place called Nakau. Nakau will proceed on to be my staple for the rest of the trip. Affordable udon and rice in 24 hour stores. Crazy!
Explored more of Kyoto as I walked towards my hostel. There was this super crowded market street which I regret walking into, and the Pokemon Center, which was nothing short of amazing.
Night fell fast today for some reason. Like I haven't even walk around enough and the skies are turning dark. Visited the Nintendo shop in main Kyoto and wow, not bad, but too many kids running around.
I switched department store and entered this toy store. It was there I saw yet again a lot of my childhood. Really wanted to buy my stuff here but didn't wanna carry it to Tokyo. So I remained at window shopping for now.
Wei Min, a close friend of mine from the army days before I became a regular, met me tonight. Yes, a friend who came to Kyoto for holiday, met with me. Crazy stuff. We ate at this atas restaurant that serves fried meat and it was meh. Don't know why we queued 1 hour for this.
We weren't full from the atas dinner so I brought Wei Min to another Nakau branch. Finally we are full after some udon. We then bought some beer from 7-eleven as I walked him back to his hotel. Chatted and caught up with each other along the way.
Pretty fun start to Kyoto already. Really loving this place!
